The leaves changing color can sometimes feel like a blink-and-you-might-miss-it moment.

There's more to the fall season than just pumpkin spice, football, and scarves. There is quite a show that takes place in nature and admission is free. I'm talking about the leaves changing color.

Only in Your State recently published a map that shows us exactly when the leaves will begin to change color. In addition to the initial change, the map reveals when the fall foliage will peak and when it will be past its prime. In Louisiana, it looks like we will have to wait a bit before the leaves start doing their thing.

For us at the top of the boot, we will see the initial changing of colors in mid-October. Our peak foliage season will be at the beginning of November, despite the majority of the nation already being past their peak by that time. Only in Your State recommends you visit a lake or river when the leaves change color to get the best Instagram-worthy view.
