What’s Really Going On In That Subaru Commercial?
Have you really paid attention to what's going on in that Subaru commercial?
The Subaru commercial above has been getting a lot of play recently and it's easy to see why. It's a sweet ad featuring a couple of hipsters looking for a trail map. A blind man (who's just hanging out at the tourist center...hmmm) overhears they're looking for a 'peninsula trail' and offers to take them since it's off the map.
They check out some sights and the old fella even tells them to listen for the whales. Then he takes them out into some very dark and very lonely woods...at night.
These sighted kids have trouble walking in the dark of the woods, but their blind guide helps them. Interesting. He seems to know these woods almost too well...
We see the hipster's Subaru Outback driving away from the camera on what is presumably the next day. Notice we don't see who's driving, though...
What if this 'blind' guy isn't so blind? What if he and the guy running the tourist center are in on a little car flipping business? The blind guy takes unsuspecting tourists to see some great scenery (and they never suspect he's not really blind) and then ends the 'tour' by taking them deep into the woods. Great place to 'dispose' of them and then take the car for resale. Pretty gruesome stuff for a car commercial, huh?
*Just a note: we're having a little fun here. George Wurtzel is the gentlemen who is the tour guide in the commercial and is not only really blind, but also a tour guide, woodworker, and artist who works with other visually -impaired people at Enchanted Hills Camp And Retreat.
