The Ville Platte Police Dept. is warning businesses in the area of a recent rash of gas theft.

Katc.com reports Ville Platte Police Chief Neil Lartigue says that someone or multiple people have been stealing gas from vehicles left over night and unattended at businesses in the area.

Lartigue says the suspect(s) steals the gas by drilling a hole in the gas tank from underneath the vehicle and draining all of the gas out.

I guess siphoning the gas to steal it just isn't enough. They prefer stealing the gas and costing victims even more money by making them replace the gas tank.
