This is another friendly reminder for everyone in south Louisiana as we await below-freezing temperatures and snow in Acadiana.

Ok, I'll be honest, I was not aware of this. Did you know that you should NOT let your vehicle get below the quarter tank gas mark during a hard freeze?

If your vehicle is low on gas during a hard freeze, condensation can form in the gas tank, which could lead to serious mechanical issues.

You want to keep your vehicle filled up so that condensation will not form in the gas tank, thus you should prepare for this snowstorm much as you would for a hurricane along the Gulf Coast.

You may want to share this with others on social media as we await a hard freeze early next week. All weather models agree that Acadiana will get several inches of snow, with nighttime temperatures in the teens.

Please remember to protect your vehicle, pipes, pets, and plants in the days ahead, and STAY WARM!

We would also like to echo was law enforcement agencies across the state are saying as the snowstorm approaches, do not get on the roads once conditions begin to deteriorate late Monday night, and into Tuesday.

Enjoy the snow in your yard, and do not risk injuring yourself or anyone else once the roads begin to freeze and snow begins to accumulate.

Here's a look at what we can expect as the winter storm pushes across much of the south early next week.
