The Patriot Guard Riders' Annual Veterans Care Package Drive is underway, and donations are being accepted.

Each year, the Patriot Guard Riders, a local veterans' motorcycle club, holds this care package drive, receiving donations for local veterans who are in nursing homes.

The goal of the Patriot Guard Riders is to deliver a care package to every veteran in local nursing homes. There are around 600 veterans currently living in approximately 29 nursing homes in Acadiana, so any help you can provide is appreciated.

The care packages contain:

  • Lap blanket
  • razors
  • toothpaste
  • toothbrush
  • mouthwash
  • socks
  • deodorant
  • comb or brush
  • shampoo
  • nail clippers
  • shave cream

The next time you go shopping, pick up a few of the items on the list and drop them off at our studios (1749 Bertrand Drive in Lafayette) or any of the drop-off points.

Other drop-off points include:

  • Neff Rentals on Hwy 14 in New Iberia
  • National Oilwell Varco on Hwy 90 in New Iberia
  • Chapman Consulting on Thoroughbred Drive
  • LADOT on Hugh Wallis Road
  • Cajun Harley-Davidson in Scott
  • Albertson's on Ambassador Caffery
  • Courtesy Jeep (Breaux Bridge/Abbeville)

If you would like to make a monetary donation to have someone else purchase the items or have the items picked up from you, please call 254-2518.

The Patriot Guard Riders hope to have enough items donated to deliver the care packages
