The University of Louisiana at Lafayette is joining the Mardi Gras fun with the student-organized Krewe of Roux parade, a tradition for more than 25 years. The parade,will begin at 4 PM on Thursday, February 7, 2013. It will roll down Rex Street, turn right onto St. Mary, then left onto Hebrard Boulevard before stopping at Vermilion Hall. Royalty, which is nominated by campus organizations or clubs, will be crowned at noon on Wednesday, Feb. 6, at the Guillory Hall deck. Members of organizations that nominated Krewe of Roux royalty will be participating as well. Only students can participate in the Krewe of Roux parade. But the general public is invited to watch. Following the parade, king cake will be served in the green space outside Vermilion Hall.
