TRAILER STOLEN: Terrence Simien’s Band Loses Over $15,000 in Gear
After a theft in a hotel parking lot, Terrence Simien's band is looking at a loss of about $15,000.
According to the post by KLFY, the Zydeco band was on tour through Nevada when the theft occurred.
The story quotes Simien as saying he was in shock when he learned of the theft. “It was a shock, you know,' Simien said. "It was a shock to all the other guys in the band and me."
With the trailer and the equipment now missing, the band has had to cancel the rest of the tour.
Rockin' Dopsie, Jr. and Lil' Nate both had words of support for their friend and fellow musician, saying that Simien has a great heart and is always there to help when needed.
He’s a person that’s always there for everybody. If you got a benefit dinner, Terrance is there. It’s not about the money for Terrance. He’s always showing up and saying, hey, what can I do to help somebody. - Rockin' Dopsie, Jr., via KLFY
Lil' Nate (of Lil' Nate and the Zydeco Big Timers) echoed Dopsie's sentiments, giving credit to Simien for creating a pathway for other artists, including himself.
Mr. Terrence has been in the music industry for so long, and it’s opened many pathways for artists like myself. It’s very heartbreaking to hear of something of that nature. - Lil' Nate via KLFY
Simien says that a police report has been filed but, at this time, the police have no leads.
A GoFundMe account has been set up to help the band try to recoup its losses. At the time of this post, the fundraiser showed a total of $19,830, on its way to a $25,000 goal.
