Thunderstorms Expected To Impact Acadiana Tuesday Evening
(Lafayette, Louisiana) - With temperatures on the rise in South Louisiana, the risk of severe thunderstorms begins to increase as we enter the summer months.
While Acadiana could still use some rain after a short drought, we don't need storms to drop several inches of rain in a short time, and we will need to be weather-aware to start the week.
According to the forecast from KLFY News 10, Acadiana could get a few rounds of severe thunderstorms on Tuesday evening and into late Wednesday.
What we don't want with these approaching storms is for the storms to stall over a region of the state and drop a few inches of rain in a short time, because that increases the risk of flash flooding.
Given expected storms impacting parts of Acadiana, there is a slight risk of flash flooding across most of the region. If there are areas that flood this week, we will provide you with that important information on this station's app.
Safety For Flooded Roads
We want to remind you that if you see flooded roads, it is always best to turn around and never drive across them. You've heard the public service announcements from the State of Louisiana that remind you and me to "Turn Around, Don't Drown," and that's important to remember this summer as we go through hurricane season.
