Teachers have one of the most difficult jobs ever.  Not only do they have to give equal time and attention to all of the students in their overcrowded classrooms (not possible), they also have to actually teach those students what is outlined in the curriculum without destroying their fragile egos.

Case in point, Diane Tirado was until recently an eighth-grade history teacher at Westgate K-8 School in Port St. Lucie, Florida.  According to Upworthy, this seasoned educator was fired earlier this year for giving several of her students a zero.  Mrs. Tirado gave each student in her class two weeks to complete an project.  Unfortunately at the end of the two weeks, several pupils didn't turn in their work.  Each one of those kids received a big, fat goose egg - and the school fired Diane over it.

As it turns out, Mrs. Tirado violated the school's “no zero policy."  The policy states that no student should be given a grade lower than 50, even if they refuse to turn in their work.   Diane shared this message with her students before she left on the class whiteboard:

Bye kids. Mrs. Tirado loves you and wishes you the best in life. I have been fired for refusing to give you a 50 percent for not handing anything in. Love, Mrs. Tiado"

The former teacher shared her story and a picture of the for her former students on Facebook, adding "a grade in Mrs. Tirado's class is earned."
