Okay, let’s ask the big question: what the hell is ‘Chappie’? The first trailer made the film look like a slightly goofy and overly sentimental ‘Short Circuit’ riff, with the title robot learning about the world ... while teaching us (blech). The new trailer feels more like director Neill Blomkamp’s previous work, showcasing wacky science fiction ideas and explosive action. In any case, we’re definitely not sold on the film yet based on either trailer.
Is it possible to hate something and yet, at the same time, recognize its greatness? This is a heavy philosophical question and one that I'd like to discuss with you. Anything to get these insufferably catchy tunes from 'Les Miserables' out of my head.

Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Russell Crowe and Amanda Seyfried lead the cast of the awards-bait film, and now they've taken had their pictures by Annie Leibovitz for Vogue magazine.
We're about to enter the heart of darkness for the Oscar season, where a number of big pictures are going to make their bid to be the front runner. But all bets are off until December 25, when 'Les Miserables' hits screens. Now there are two TV spots to sell the scale and importance (and perhaps inevitability) of the film.
