One person has died after an officer-involved shooting in Lafayette according to officials with Louisiana State Police.

This case is related to the case of a 13-year-old female teenager who was shot Wednesday night.

There are very few details about the case being released at this time, but what we do know is that Louisiana State Police was contacted around 2:30 this morning to begin investigating the case.

Trooper Thomas Gossen, Spokesman for Louisiana State Police Troop I, says, via a press release, that at least one officer was involved in a shooting in the 200 block of Paul Breaux Avenue. This was between the area of Cooper and Thornton Streets.

The person shot was taken to an area hospital where they ultimately died.

Because this is an active investigation, no other details are being released at this time.
