Nitetown, Marley's, Jefferson Street Pub, and The Office are among some of the bars that are choosing to close for the weekend.

These bars and clubs are making the voluntary call to help slow the spread of COVID-19 as businesses in Louisiana and surrounding states, like Florida and Texas, have began to see an increase in cases among the 18-29 demographic.

Downtown Lafayette released their 'Downtown Lafayette Nightlife Expectations' last week in an effort to educate patrons on safe ways to go about a night Downtown. See the post here via Instagram @downtownlft

Although there is no mandate or order requiring closures, the owners of these establishments are making what they believe is the responsible decision for their staff and patrons.

Governor Jon Bel Edwards has said that he will be evaluating cases over the next few weeks to determine what next steps will be taken as far as operations within bars and restaurants go.
