It's not your imagination, we have had a ton of named tropical systems in the last week. According to the National Hurricane Season, it ties a 1992 record for the most named storms in the western hemisphere at one time. Forecaster Eric Blake said in a tweet, "They're forming like roaches out there..."

Humberto is meandering in the central Atlantic while Jerry continues its westerly track toward the Bahamas. This is happening as now tropical depression Imelda moves inland over eastern Texas.

In the Pacific, Kiko, Lorena and Mario are also moving to the west and are not expected to have an immediate impact on land.

September is the statistical peak of Hurricane Season and other than Hurricane Barry, Acadiana has so far been spared from any major effects this season.
