Some Louisiana Football Fans Won’t See New Orleans Saints Game Sunday on TV

(KTDY) - The New Orleans Saints are set to host the San Fransico 49ers this Sunday in the Caesars Superdome, but not every Saints fan in Louisiana will be able to watch the game on FOX.

When NFL games are not part of the national broadcast schedule, like a Sunday Night Football Game, they are broadcast across their respective region.

For example, the Saints game this week at noon on FOX will be on television for most fans across the Gulf Coast.

If you're familiar with the sports landscape in Louisiana, you know that much of Louisiana supports the Saints; however, there is a small portion of our state that supports the Dallas Cowboys, and that part of Louisiana would be in the northwestern portion of the state.

Due to Shreveport's proximity to Texas, many local football fans there are Cowboys fans. When the Saints play at the same time as the Cowboys and on the same network, fans in Shreveport often get the Dallas game on TV instead of the New Orleans game.

This will be the case again this Sunday, according to the 506 Sports coverage map, football fans in the northwestern portion of Louisiana will see the Cowboys and Giants at noon on FOX, rather than seeing the Saints and 49ers. 

Below, the pinkish color indicates places where the Cowboys and Giants game will be seen on TV, and the yellow region indicates where the Saints game will be available. Take a look at the Shreveport region.

Now, I am sure that members of the "Who Dat Nation" in Shreveport and the surrounding areas have already made accommodations to watch the Saints, but it is still odd that an out-of-state team is shown over the in-state team.

However, I'll repeat it, this isn't the first time a Saints game in north Louisiana has been bumped for a Cowboys game. In 2024, two Saints games at the end of the season in the Shreveport region were bumped in the television coverage for a Cowboys game.

The Saints are looking for their first win in the 2025 NFL Football season, and the kickoff in the dome is scheduled for noon on Sunday.
