The New Iberia Police Department is investigating a late-night shooting on Tuesday, June 22 that left two people injured.

According to Sergeant Daesha Hughes, officers responded to the 700 block of South Hopkins Street in New Iberia around 10:30 pm to a call of shots fired. Once on the scene, officers say they found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds.

Both victims were transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The shooting remains under investigation.
