A sheriff's deputy who claims to have come into contact with the person who died from the Ebola virus earlier today is now exhibiting symptoms of that virus.

Multiple news agencies are reporting that the deputy in Frisco, Texas, near Dallas was being transported to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. Hospital spokesperson Wendell Watson said it could take up to 48 hours to determine if the patient was positive for Ebola.

The patient, identified as Sgt. Michael Monnig, went to a Frisco CareNow clinic and told workers that he had come in contact with "patient zero." Monnig apparently accompanied county health officials who entered Thomas Eric Duncan's apartment in Dallas.

Frisco Mayor Maher Maso said the "risk is minimal" from the new potential Ebola case.
