Did you think the coronavirus pandemic would affect Christmas 2020? We all wished it would have been back to normal by Christmas time, right? Another thing it will put a damper on is Santa visits. Malls, department stores, special events, anywhere and everywhere you would normally see a Santa will have different policies this year due to COVID-19. Needless to say, the line of children dressed in their cute outfits waiting for to sit on his lap, give him their wish list, and take a photo may be shorter this year.

What kind of changes will be made? I wouldn’t count on sitting on Santa’s lap. As a matter of fact, I wouldn’t count on touching him at all. Santa and guests will probably be wearing a masks in states with a mask mandate. There will be no-contact Santa visits including plexiglass dividers. And of course, photos will have to be taken 6 feet away. Can you say awkward? But hey, at least everyone will be safe.

At least Santa will still make an appearance. I mean, he is a very important part of the holiday tradition for many families. Many of the malls are getting very creative when it comes to this situation. According to winknews, Brookfield Properties is the second largest mall operator in the country and they said that Santa will be in 134 of its more than 150 malls. In some malls, Santa will appear to sit inside a giant snow globe, and in some Santa will be behind a giant picture frame.

For those that want to skip the mall, there will be Santas available for Zoom calls with kids for a virtual experience through the website ExperienceJingleRing.com.
