Famous Revolutionary War captain John Paul Jones once wrote: 'I wish to have no connection with any ship that does not sail fast,  for I intend to go in harm's way.' This could have also been the motto of the 'Cajun Navy,' a group of heroic men and women who rushed to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, using their own boats to rescue 10, 000 victims of the storm. As former Louisiana governor Kathleen Blanco says in the video, 'Louisiana people saved Louisiana people.' The 'Cajun Navy' and their efforts are featured in a new book, 'The Terrible Storms of 2005: Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita,' published by Acadian House and a new documentary, 'The Cajun Navy,'directed and produced by Academy Award - winning filmmaker Allan Durand. The book and movie will be previewed tonight at an event honoring the heroes of 'The Cajun Navy' at the LITE Center in Lafayette.
