Railroad crossings in New Iberia don’t have crossing arms or lights. More than 130 school buses cross those tracks daily. City Councilman David Broussard has been trying to get lights and arms for those railroad crossings for nearly 2 decades.

The Department of Transportation and Development has recently allocated $3 million for safety improvements. DOTD is now asking the parish to donate land for the project. A vote will reportedly take place this Wednesday.
