According to WABC-TV, police are searching for a man who was caught on camera attacking an elderly woman.

UPDATE: The suspect was arrested and charged in the beat down of the 78-year-old woman.

The incident took place on a number 2 train in the Bronx back on March 10 and the footage has since gone viral. People across the globe were angered to see the video, mainly because the elderly woman could be anyone's grandmother, yet the man continues to viciously attack her.

The suspect is said to have exited the train at Nereid Avenue shortly after the incident happened around 3:10 a.m. as the victim stayed on the train for one more northbound stop.

Luckily, the woman did end up getting medical attention when the train pulled into the 241st Street stop.

As for the suspect, he is being described as "a black man, approximately 40-years-old, 6'0", 180 lbs., with a black goatee."

He was last seen wearing a black jacket, black knit cap, long black and white checkered scarf, metal framed glasses, and black pants.

Personally, it hurt my heart to see the woman beat up like that and I hope they catch the guy who did this to her. What was even more disturbing is that people stood around to record the incident but no one even tried to help the woman or stop her attacker.

Anyone with information in regard to this assault is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
