One Dead in Opelousas After Alleged Robbery Overnight

One person is dead following an alleged robbery overnight in Opelousas.

According to KATC, the Opelousas Police Department was called to the 400 block of W. Landry Street in Opelousas shortly after midnight.

Witnesses told police that the shooting victim was armed and entered a room where a card game was taking place. They report that the victim told the people in the room to "give it up."

A shot was then fired, leaving the person dead.

One person was taken into custody for questioning.
