After many years of smoking and few heart attacks, she had a stroke at the table while telling my dad a funny story.  She was laughing so hard she could hardly tell it...then in a millisecond, things changed.

She was taken to Franklin Foundation Hospital and then transported to Ochsner in New Orleans.  She had 9 of the best doctors in the country, but the damage was just too severe.  It was a text book stroke.  The team of doctors said that if she had had it in the hospital parking lot, she still may have never recovered.

She was in a coma and on life support until the doctors told me...I had to...

I held her hand.
