A man risked his own safety to rescue a foal that was stuck on a bridge.

Twitter user Omar_pets0 posted a video online taken by a man who came across a mare and her foal as the pair found themselves in a sticky situation.

The horses were on a wooden bridge, and it appears that at least one of the foal's legs had slipped between some boards as the pair were crossing.

The mare appeared to be standing idly by, appearing to have already accepted the foal's fate when the man arrived.

I am going to assume that these horses were (at least) somewhat accustomed to being around humans. Had they not been, I think that the mare would have been more protective than trusting.

In this case, she appeared to be more trusting than protective as the man approached.

As you'll see in the video below, the man cautiously approaches the pair, clapping his hands in hopes the mare will be skittish and move away from the foal. After all, a protective mare can do quite a bit of damage to a human (or any other animal trying to access her foal).

The mare doesn't budge, despite the man's attempts, so he slowly approaches the foal and tries to help it stand.

It took a few attempts and a final "sack of potatoes" move to rescue the foal, but the job got done.

I'm guessing it'll be hard to keep a smile from your face as you watch what the mare does after her foal is safe. Watch:

Did you notice that little nuzzle at the end? Heartwarming!
