Man Rescued From Storm Drain in Lafayette Now Wanted by Police
(Lafayette, Louisiana) - Earlier this week, we reported that authorities were called to a storm drain on West Pont Des Mouton after a passerby noticed a flag waving from a storm drain.
When authorities arrived, they found a man stuck in the storm drain.
With help from the Lafayette Fire Department, they pulled the man from the storm drain, where he had been for two days.
After the story broke, many asked how he got into the drainage system and why he was down there.
We later learned that the man stuck in the drain in Lafayette went down to retrieve a bag and phone that were washed into the drain as a thunderstorm swept across Lafayette earlier this week.
While down there, he got turned around and began wandering through the complex drainage system in that part of the city.
Luckily, rescuers found him and transported him to a local hospital for dehydration. KLFY News 10 reports that once he was at the medical facility, the man left quickly, and now we know why.
Lafayette Police say the man they pulled from the storm drain earlier this week has warrants and is wanted. Police have not identified the 55-year-old man rescued from the drain, but they are looking for him.
