Man Honors Deceased Wife By Walking 645 Miles

Kevin Doyle and his wife Eilieen shared a love of Star Wars, but sadly, Eileen passed away in 2012. Kevin decided to honor his wife's memory and their mutual love of Star Wars in a unique way: Kevin made the 645 - mile journey to San Diego Comic Con from the Star Wars museum Rancho Obi - Wan in full Stormtrooper armor.

Doyle began his trek on June 6, walking anywhere from 20 - 45 miles a day, pushing a cart with supplies and extra clothing. Doyle told The West Coast News that he's met many along the way who have expressed their support and appreciation of his pilgrimage. 'I get people that come up to me who are fighting cancer or are cancer survivors, people and their families and they just want to talk to me and thank me for raising awareness,” Doyle said. 'For me, I haven’t had my head around it just quite yet. For me, it’s just me walking to honor my wife, but then people are gathering and making it really special. And they’re making it personal for them, which I hadn’t accounted for that — that people would receive me in that way.'
