A Mamou officer has been put on leave after a nightclub incident this past Friday night.

According to a report from News 10, Mamou Police Chief Brent Zackery confirmed that he is investigating the incident caught on a viral video that appears to show an officer macing a woman who was subdued.

There is no word on what led to there being such a heavy police presence inside of the bar where the woman is seen on the ground, but Chief Zackery told News 10 they were "responding to reports of a club scene that had turned wildly out of control."

This is the clowns that y’all hired to be a cop! Well it’s all the way up!! My mom wasn’t responding and yet y’all stood over her and mace her. Y’all dk who family y’all played with. And for Brent we have you on video saying take all them mutherfucker out . So say chief y’all no good. This is mamou police department

The scene is quite chaotic as you hear onlookers begging police to get the woman off of the ground, and there are also repeated pleas from someone saying "that's my mama." While the incident is under investigation, the Mamou police chief wants to be fully transparent.

I want to be transparent about it all and do a full investigation. But know this, I tell my officers all the time, if you mess up you take your lick.
