Shaquille O'Neal is a cultural icon. There's no way around it. The former LSU and NBA star has been apart of America's consciousness since 1989 when he first showed up on a basketball court at LSU. The 7 foot 1 giant has been a ball player, a rapper, a movie star, a TV host, a DJ, a pro wrestler, a law enforcement official and who knows what else over the past 3 decades. But, his journey to becoming a bona fide star started 27 years ago.

On November 6th 1992, Shaq debuted for the Orlando Magic. The hype around the former LSU Tiger was well-deserved. In his first pro game, Shaq finished with 12 points, 18 rebounds and 3 blocks. He was named the NBA's 'Player of the Week' his first week in the pros (he was the first player to ever do that). He then went on to have a Hall of Fame career winning 4 NBA Championships, was a 3 time Finals MVP, and a league MVP...just to name a few of his accomplishments.

Even though Shaq retired in 2011, the big man is still everywhere. He's one of the panelists on Inside the NBA on TNT, he's in a ton of commercials and you can STILL find him on the sidelines at LSU football and basketball games.
