King Cake season is in full swing and while many of us are running to our favorite bakery or store to get the delicious treat, some are attempting to make their own, like Daniel Phillips.

Our friend at KATC TV-3 posted a photo of his King Cake, which he baked at home, and it didn't turn out as he hoped.

Daniel tells me that while it looks terrible on the outside, it isn't as bad as it appears. He said that once it was done, he thought that the interior of the cake could use more time in the oven so he continued the baking process.

Well, while inside the oven, the exterior of the cake baked for a bit too long, but lesson learned.

Daniel would go on to tell me, "I'll try again next year, too much work to do more than once a season. So hopefully by 2035, I'll have it right."

On a personal note, we tried the homemade King Cake this season and it didn't turn out so great. So, major props to those who have this down to s science because it isn't as easy as it looks.

Now, look at Daniel's post on his King Cake and let the critiquing or suggesting begin. I do applaud him for sharing his end product online.

Now, if you want to attempt to make your own King Cake for Carnival season, here's a quick tutorial on how to prepare and bake the cake. It's not as easy as one may think.

After a quick search on X, I found a few more photos of homemade King Cakes, and here's how they turned out. Yes, they all look better than my King Cake and Daniel's.

But we are learning.
