A man in Baton Rouge has been arrested after he allegedly carried a gun near a school campus, and fired it.

According to WBRZ,  23-year-old Desmond "Biscuit" Williams was arrested Thursday evening after he was seen carrying an assault weapon at Belaire Magnet High School.

Williams says that he shot the weapon three times into the ground and he did so to allegedly stop a fight that he was witnessing.

WBRZ reports that a school administrator at Belaire High School said Williams threatened to show up at the school and "shoot it up," but he said that was not the case and that he fired the weapon when he saw the fight.

Williams was booked for carrying a firearm on school property and illegal discharge of a firearm. There were no reports of injuries after shots were fired into the ground.
