For a few days now, we have been talking about this May cold front, and now we have a better understanding of how cold iit may actually be. According to several forecasts that I have seen on social media and television, we will begin the new month this weekend with highs in the 60s and some places dipping into the upper 40s at night.
When the Cold Front Arrives in Louisiana
You read that correctly: at night, we will be in the lower 50s or upper 400s, depending on where you are in Acadiana.

Coldest Temperature Recorded in May in Louisiana
With the impending cold front, I dug into the history books and found out what the coldest it's ever gotten in Louisiana in May.
According to a KPLC report, the coldest temperature ever recorded in the Bayou State in May was 42 degrees, recorded in Lake Charles in 2013. On the same day in 2013, the temperature in Lafayette was 45 degrees.

Now, forecasters are not predicting temperatures to drop that low this weekend, but with the windchills, it could certainly feel llike the upper 40s as this strong cold front seeps across the region.
