Latest Rainfall Estimates For South Louisiana
As you can see from this graphic provided by the National Hurricane Center there will be a lot of people affected by flooding rains over the next seven days. The catalyst for all of this rainfall is Hurricane Harvey.
While it is not uncommon to see large amounts of rain associated with a landfalling tropical cyclone the fact that Harvey is expected to slow in forward motion and actually retreat in its footsteps is quite problematic for coastal residents.
Here is a very general synopsis of what the area can expect as far as rainfall based on the 4 AM CDT Advisory from the National Hurricane Center.
The area between Lake Charles and Lafayette will likely see between 10 and 15 inches of rain over the next seven days. The area from Lafayette to New Orleans will likely see between six and ten inches of rain over the next seven days.
Flooding will obviously be a concern for many residents. We advise you to stay close to this station, our social media sites, and we encourage you to download our mobile app for your smartphone.
