Guests at Lafayette Park Continue to Make Costly Mistake
(Lafayette, Louisiana) - The weather is warming up, and the flowers are blooming, which means more of us in Acadiana will be visiting parks, and specifically public parks in Lafayette.
We are blessed to have such wonderful parks in Lafayette, and one new park, Moncus Park on Johnston Street, continues to add attractions.
Each time I drive past the park, it is packed with families enjoying all that it has to offer, but a recent social media post reminded me that some visitors to the popular park in the middle of the city are still making a costly mistake.
Someone recently posted in a social media group that when they decided to leave Moncus Park, they walked over to where they had parked their vehicle, and it was gone. Yes, their car was towed from the parking lot where they had parked it, and they were upset that it would cost them a lot to get it back.
Like many others visiting Moncus Park, this guest made the mistake of parking in a nearby lot that does not permit visitors to park next to it. The parking lot that doesn't allow park guests to park is the South College Shopping Center, and yes, there are several signs posted around the property advising park guests not to park there.
In addition to that parking lot, the parking lot across the street from the South College Shopping Center on Johnston St. does not allow guests to Moncus Park to park there either. You may be asking, so where do you park if you visit Moncus Park? Well, there is parking at the park itself, and for special events at Moncus Park, there's often a shuttle service available from the Blackham Coliseum.
We share this with you to remind you to be mindful of where you park when visiting Moncus Park in Lafayette, and yes, these shopping centers have the right to reserve parking for shoppers only.
Back to the person who recently posted that their vehicle was towed: not only would it cost them over $200 to get their vehicle back, but they also said they would have to wait a few days because the towing company's front office was closed for the weekend. What an inconvenience for the person whose vehicle was towed.
Again, we encourage you to take the kids to Moncus Park this Spring or summer. There's so much to do, but just be mindful where you park, and you may want to share this friendly reminder with others on social media so that they are aware of the parking situation along Johnston St.
