We here in the state of Louisiana are all to familiar with the devastation that can happen when a major storm hits our state, and so do the people of the state of Florida.

Lafayette Fire Department Spokesman Alton Trahan says that seven of the department's firefighters left this morning to head to Florida to lend a hand as Hurricane Dorian is shadowing the state.

Trahan says the seven people are part of the Louisiana Urban Search and Rescue Regional Response Team 4.

Our seven heroes will join up with a hundred more firefighters from our state and the Louisiana Fire Marshal's Office to help in response efforts.

The firefighters will be all be traveling to Jacksonville while they await word as to where they may be needed most.

To everyone helping to assist the people of our country, thank you for everything you do.

No matter what type of firs responder you are, we thank you!
