Thirteen children of New York firefighters who died in the 9/11 terrorist attacks are about to join the New York City fire department. The group includes two pairs of siblings, a pair of brothers, and a brother and sister. Other children of fallen firefighters have joined the department since that fateful day. The New York Post reports this is the largest group of "legacy" firefighters in the past 18 years.

Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro told the Post,  “Bravery runs in these extraordinary families who have sacrificed so much for our city. I’m proud of the commitment these probies have already demonstrated to the department and look forward to celebrating with them at their graduation.”

They'll graduate on September 24th.
