Local artist, Maegan Hanna, gives back. Maegan Hanna of Lafayette creates beautiful pieces that are so easy to fall in love with. Not only is Hanna gifted with her creativity, but she has a giving heart and loves to help our community. That passion is what started The Clearport Learning Center, which also led to selling her art through Maegan Hanna Art.

First, let’s talk about The Clearport Learning Center. Maegan and her husband, Mark Hanna, started the foundation seven years ago. They simply wanted to give back to the community that they call home because it has given so much to them over the years. Maegan said they saw an opportunity to help high school teenagers in Acadiana and jumped on it.

The Clearport Learning Center is a non-profit program that provides support for high school teens in our community that focuses on building character, career development, and education. They create a safe environment that nurtures individual growth and connections within the community. Students receive tutoring, ACT prep, mentorship, and life skills. They do everything they can to empower teens to reach their full potential. It’s located at 210 West Pine Street in Lafayette.

Now, for her art. I met Maegan at Caroline & Company where she was selling some of her pieces. I was immediately drawn to her gorgeous cheese boards and coasters. Her cheese boards, coasters, and wine glasses are so unique, they’ll be the talk at your next house gathering.  I ended up buying a set of coasters for my living room and I love them.

I asked Maegan how and when she started creating her pieces. She said art has always been a creative outlet for her. She said she’s always created little things here and there for as long as she can remember. She said one day about a year ago, it hit her that she could sell her creations to benefit The Clearport Learning Center.  When she came to that realization, she carved out more time in her schedule to create pieces to sell.

Maegan Hanna Art specializes in resin art, specifically creating cheese boards and coasters with a classic Louisiana flare. Recently, she incorporated religious clay art on canvas and those pieces are also big sellers. Her price range fits all budgets with pieces starting at $20. Maegan Hanna Art is sold by word of mouth or on the Instagram page, maemae.art.

Check out her beautiful pieces and know that with every piece you buy, you also help a great cause. The Clearport Learning Center and Maegan Hanna Art is a wonderful partnership for our community. Local artist, local family, local foundation, helping local teens. You just can’t beat that.
