Krewe Announces Virtual Parade App for 2021
In a year filled with anxiety over elections, coronavirus concerns, and loss of jobs, businesses, and income, somehow, we still had hope for a normal Mardi Gras season in 2021. As those hopes were dashed a couple of months ago when the City of New Orleans announced that parades would not be allowed to roll for the 2021 Carnival season, we were still looking forward to a modified celebration. Krewes who normally start planning for the following year directly after their parades roll during Mardi Gras are left scrambling for a solution.
Well, one of the most famous carnival krewes in New Orleans has come up with a solution to continue the traditional fun of Mardi Gras, but virtually, next year. The Krewe of Bacchus is set to roll out a virtual parade app called the THROW ME SOMETHING BACCHUS app. And according to The Louisiana Weekend website "The app will allow users to catch beads from their couches instead of the parade route on iPhone or Android devices. Then, people can create an avatar and trade with friends."
I love the fact that parade music from marching bands will also be available on the app, and past royalty will make appearances as well. And for the people who might not have been able to enjoy Mardi Gras in New Orleans in person before, this will take them as close as they'll be able to get in 2021. The app is already live and ready to download now.
