Earlier this year, Jerry Lewis announced he would host his final Labor Day Telethon For MDA. The Los Angeles times reported the Muscular Dystrophy Association has announced that Lewis will not be hosting this year's event.  At a recent press conference, the 85 year-old actor & comedian   had some harsh comments for the state of modern TV.  Lewis was particularly critical of "Reality TV' and the people behind it.

"Proctor & Gamble says, 'Are you nuts? You want me to spend $1.6 million for that variety show when I can get the fat lady to lose weight for $62,000. Let's go with that one. We'll call it reality. And that's what they've done. The [television] industry has destroyed itself," -Jerry Lewis

Lewis has an upcoming documentary, “Method to the Madness of Jerry Lewis”, which will air on Encore this fall.
