
Louisiana Police Act Quickly After Shooting At Mardi Gras Parade, 5 Injured
A shooting took place on Sunday evening following a Louisiana Mardi Gras parade leaving five people injured.
The shooting took place at around 7:00 pm on Sunday, March 2, 2025, following the Pepe Mardi Gras Parade in Franklinton, Louisiana.
Franklinton police officers and Washington Parish Sheriff's deputies were in the immediate vicinity and were able to provide life-saving care to the victims until they were subsequently transported to area hospitals.
Two victims were treated and released. Two other victims were reported in stable but guarded condition while another victim was listed in critical condition.

Franklinton detectives identified the person of interest in the shooting and have taken that person into custody. Additional suspects are being sought for questioning.
During the parade, but unrelated to the aforementioned shooting, officers arrested two juveniles who were found to be in possession of firearms on the parade route. The juveniles were also within a school zone.

Additionally, an earlier threat of gunshots caused officers to come into contact with an individual in possession of an AR-15-style rifle.
The investigation into the shooting after the parade continues between Franklinton detectives and the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office.
