(KPEL) - A fight on the campus of a Louisiana high school has sent one student to the hospital for medical attention.

WAFB reports that a major fight amongst students at Livonia High School broke out early Monday morning, prompting the school to send out a message to parents notifying them of an incident on campus.

The Baton Rouge news station reports that a video of the altercation on campus was sent to them, and in the video, you could hear people screaming, "Beat him up".

Staff members at the school were seen in the video intervening, but not before one student was injured and taken to a medical facility.

Late Monday morning, police were still on campus investigating the matter. Nearly a dozen students were reportedly involved in the fight on Monday morning.

In an update, we've read that the student who was transported to the hospital was stabbed in the neck with a pencil. That report came from the website, Unfiltered With Karen.

A statement from the school district concerning the fight on campus has been sent out, and you can read it below.
