
New Iberia Police Department Mourns the Loss of Chief Todd D’Albor
NEW IBERIA, La. - The New Iberia Police Department announced the passing of Chief Todd D'Albor today.

The NIPD made the sad announcement in a social media post on Saturday, August 1, 2026, acknowledging the fact that Chief D'Albor had been battling health issues. "You fought a courageous battle," the statement read.
Chief D'Albor's Career: More Than 30 Years Across Multiple Agencies
Chief D'Albor had dedicated more than 30 years of service to law enforcement. He served with the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office, Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, Saint Martin Parish Sheriff's Office, Saint Martinville Police Department, and Jennings Police Department.
The First Chief of the New Iberia Police Department
He was appointed to his current position in December 2017 as the first Chief of Police of the newly established New Iberia Police Department. He "faithfully and proudly served with honor, integrity, and dedication until his passing."

In their statement, NIPD extended their condolences to the Chief's family, friends, and loved ones, and asked the community to keep his family in their thoughts and prayers.
