Louisiana Lottery Confirms Big Powerball Win Wednesday Night

Louisiana lottery players have been on quite the roll lately and while no one won the big jackpot, someone in the Bayou State did notch a nice win during last night's Powerball drawing. 

The estimated jackpot amount for the September 18, 2024, Powerball game was $176 million for the annuitized jackpot. The lump sum estimation was listed as $89.6 million.

We can confirm that those amounts will increase when Powerball holds its next drawing on Saturday, September 21, 2024.

We already mentioned that no tickets sold across the Powerball footprint matched the numbers needed to claim the game's top prize, but someone did do pretty well in Louisiana.

The Louisiana Lottery Confirms Big Powerball Win on Wednesday in Louisiana

Our sources at the Louisiana Lottery have confirmed that a Louisiana-sold ticket earned one of the largest prizes awarded in Wednesday's game.

The ticket matched four of the five white balls and the red Powerball that were part of the drawing on Wednesday. Because the ticket's purchaser did opt-in for the Power Play they raked in a cool $200,000 with the win! (Had they not got the Power Play, they would've only won $50,000.

We have yet to be able to confirm from the Louisiana Lottery exactly where this ticket was purchased, so suffice it to say -- CHECK YOUR TICKETS!

If you're the holder of that ticket you will want to make sure you sign the back of it so in case it's lost or stolen and someone else attempts to cash in, they won't be able to.

Other than the $200,000 winner, players in Louisiana did not have a lucrative night playing Powerball. Only four tickets sold statewide earned a prize of $400 and ten tickets earned a prize of $100.

If you want to play the other big lottery game, a heads up that Friday's Mega Millions lottery game boasts a jackpot of $47 million.

That game recently had an $810 million winner, as you may recall, on September 10. The winning ticket was sold in Sugar Land, Texas.
