January is “divorce month.“ American lawyers report 25 to 30% more divorces are filed in January than any other month of the year. Why?

There are a number of reasons. A new year brings a desire for a new start. In many cases, an individual has already decided to end the marriage but sticks around through the Christmas and new year holiday season. Money is often a factor. People wait til after receipt of year-end bonuses.

Watch for these warning signs that your marriage is nearing its end...

Changes in spending habits: A spouse who is seeking to be supported “in the lifestyle to which they’ve become accustomed” is likely to go on lavish spending sprees. Someone looking to minimize the amount they payout will cut back on their spending.

New hairstyles, clothing, and increases in fitness activity: These can be signs of infidelity.

They stop nagging: if your spouse has a habit of nagging you, then suddenly stops, it’s probably a sign that they’ve simply given up.

Push to have another child: This one’s kind of ironic. People often feel when their marriage is in trouble, having another baby will save it. Uh, No! This is likely to just make things messier & more painful in the end, for everyone involved, especially the kids.
