Now, I am not in the housing market, but out of curiosity, I decided to look up the most expensive homes currently for sale in Lafayette, and this masterpiece is at the top of the search results.

A River Ranch Home I Watched Being Built

A home I watched being built years ago, in 2009, in River Ranch, is on the market, and I recall asking myself then, " Who would own a house like this in Lafayette?" One rumor was that the house was for Shaquille O'Neal, but he shot it down when I had the chance to ask him.

No, I never built up the courage to ring the doorbell to ask who lived there or what they do for a living, but watching this house being built was shocking; it's that huge.

Fast forward a few years, and the same house that I admired as it was being built in Lafayette is on the market for just over $12 million. I guess I should start counting and looking for loose change if I want to pursue this one. Ok, that was a joke.

Where the $12 Million Lafayette Mansion Sits

The home, listed at over $12 million, is located at 409 Worth Ave in Lafayette and sits on a waterfront property. According to the Zillow listing, the lot the mansion is on is 1.05 acres and has the largest pond frontage in River Ranch.

If you're curious about the size of this masterpiece in South Lafayette, it is close to 11,000 square feet and features 21 impeccably designed rooms. That's a lot of dusting and mopping.

The Pool and the Foyer Steal the Show

There are five bedrooms and nine bathrooms in this house, and the pool area is a paradise. Seriously, can I just purchase the pool area? That's all I really need.

Aside from the pool area, because I am an outdoor person, my favorite part of this house in River Ranch is the foyer, which is so elegant and so huge. I remember asking myself when they were building this house, "How much do those entrance doors probably cost?"  It's stunning.
