The Giant Omelette Festival is celebrating its 31st year in Abbeville November 7 and 8.

The festival grounds stretch from the Courthouse Square to Magdalen Square, under the beautiful oak trees in Abbeville.

This free festival opens on Saturday with arts and crafts, Kids' World, antique car show, live music and great food.  Over 60 different vendors are scheduled, along with great bands like Sweet Cecilia, Steve Riley and Kevin Naquin.

The procession of the chefs and eggs will begin at 1pm on Sunday, with the preparation of the omelette to follow.

EVENTS ON SATURDAY:

  • 10am: Ganey Arsemant Band
  • Noon-3: Sweet Cecilia
  • 1:30:   Tractor “Egg cracking” Competition
  • 2:00: Sheila Hebert Collins-Childrens Book Author Kids World
  • 3-5:   Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys

EVENTS ON SUNDAY:

  • 6:30 on-site registration -The Cajun Challenge Bicycle Ride/LaTrail.org 7:30- 10:00 rides begin.
  • 9:00- Official Mass St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church
  • 9:00 - 5:00-Antique Car/Implement viewing
  • 9:00 - 5:00 -Arts & Crafts Show
  • 9:00 - 5:00 -Food Vendors
  • 10:00 - 1:00 –Kevin Naquin and Ossum Playboys
  • 1:00 -Procession of Chefs and Eggs
  • 1:15-TABASCO© Girls Dance Team
  • 1:30- 4:00-Fa Tras Local Cajun Band
  • 1:30 - 4:30- Omelette Preparation & Serving. 5,031 eggs are being cooked in a 12ft skillet.
