Stephen King's 'It' is considered one of his greatest novels, and its TV mini - series adaptation from the 90s is considered a classic. Pennywise The Clown was brought to horrifying life by Tim Curry, well - known for his role in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, among others.

It's been 27 years since that mini - series, so it's well past the time for a new take on one of King's masterpieces. The new 'It' hits theaters on September 8, 2017 and is part one of the story, as the novel's length requires two movies to adapt. Whether or not the second part is produced will probably depend on how well the first part does.
