(Pierre Part, Louisiana) - A family in south Louisiana is alive today after they jumped from an elevated portion of a structure that was on fire.

The Pierre Part Fire Department reports on social media that they responded to a structure fire on July 5, 2025, and upon arrival, the structure was fully engulfed with flames.

The camp owner reported that he heard an explosion and noticed his truck was on fire, which quickly spread throughout the camp.

As the fire spread, the father jumped from an elevated porch on the structure, then had his wife drop their kids, whom he caught below.

Once the kids were safe, the man's wife jumped, and all were able to escape as their camp burned. The family was transported to a nearby hospital and evaluated by medical professionals.

The social media post by the fire department did not report whether anyone in the family sustained injuries during their escape from the fire.
