(St. Tammany Parish) - A deputy in southeastern Louisiana is being applauded by many on social media after he stepped into a room at a hospital.

The St Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office shared a photo of Deputy Justin D’Herete in the Emergency Room as a young boy was being evaluated for a broken arm. The young boy injured himself as he and his family were celebrating Independence Day.

Like most kids, the young boy was frightened when the X-ray technician had to perform the X-rays. When the deputy heard the kid crying, he stepped into the evaluation room and made things much less tense.

According to the viral social media post, the deputy gave the young boy stickers and even handcuffed the medical professional, all in an attempt to calm the kid down. Of course, like most little boys, this kid loves first responders, so when the deputy stepped in, it not only calmed him down but also made his day, especially since he had a broken arm.

Signs an Arm Is Broken

A fractured arm typically exhibits various signs and symptoms. Often, one with a broken arm experiences intense pain, and there may also be bruising on the injured arm.

A person with a broken or fractured arm may also have trouble moving it, and if you suspect that your arm, or any extremity, is broken, you should seek medical care immediately.

Like others on social media, we also applaud this deputy for going out of his way to check on the child when he was crying, and we should all learn something from this story. Being kind to one another doesn't cost anything, and one's kindness can go a long way when someone is down or hurt.

Here's a look at the deputy in the hospital as the young boy was being treated for his injury.
