You know the old saying, "One man's trash is another man's treasure." Do you have items lying around that are no longer of use? You can always convert them to cash by having a rummage sale.

A rummage sales can be a lot of work, and there's also the issue of the "hard cores" who show up two hours before your advertised start time. Faith House can help simplify things Saturday at Cajun Field.

Faith House's third annual “Junk in Your Trunk” garage sale, where you can sell whatever you care to peddle from you car, truck, trailer or table from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
There's a $20 fee per parking space or two for $35. Registration is  6 to 7 a.m. Kristen Boutte, Faith House’s development and awareness coordinator says last year, more than 150 vendors participated.

It’s kind of like a garage sale and an arts and crafts sale all in one. All they have to do is show up that day. Bring a table, chair, whatever you need. It’s really laid back. We think this one is going to be great. -Kristen Boutte

Sellers keep their proceeds. The parking fees go to the women’s shelter. A couple thousand dollars were raised last year. The funds generated go to paying for electricity bills, medicine, food and clothing.

Faith House has provided safety and basic services to women from seven Acadiana parishes. For more than 25 years. They offer transitional and permanent housing, a non resident program, outreach program, 24-hour crisis line and public education for families damaged by domestic violence.

Concessions will be sold and Faith House will host its own sale tent. Call (337) 267-9422 for more information.
