Elvis’ Granddaughter Riley Has a New Job, Death Doula
Riley Keough, the daughter of Lisa Marie Presley and Danny Keough and granddaughter to the late Elvis Presley, has a new job. The King of rock and roll's granddaughter is now a death doula. Do you know what a death doula does?
A death doula specializes in preparing individuals for death with end-of-life care and offers physical, emotional and spiritual support to their families throughout the entire process.
Elvis' granddaughter, Riley, took to Instagram to explain her new job with a reading from Rumi, a 13th-century poet.
Be a lamp or a lifeboat or a ladder. Help someone's soul heal. Walk out of your house like a shepherd.-Rumi
In her post, Riley Keough thanks the community.
I just felt like writing such a deep thank you to this community who are teaching and training people in conscious dying and death work. We are taught that it's a morbid subject to talk about. Or were so afraid of it that we're unable to talk about it...then of course it happens to us, and we are very ill prepared. I think it's so important to be educated on conscious dying and death the way we educate ourselves on birth and conscious birthing. We prepare ourselves so rigorously for the entrance and have no preparation for our exit. So I'm so grateful for this community and to be able to contribute what I can.-Riley Keough
Elvis was a very spiritual being and it sounds like his granddaughter is as well. At 31, Riley has had success as an actress, model, producer and now a death doula.
