In case you didn't know, Elvis Presley is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, and was a proud southern boy, so it's no surprise that his very first radio appearance was on the historic Louisiana Hayride. The Hayride was second only to the Grand Ole Opry as far as popularity goes, and it was  broadcast on KWKH radio station in Shreveport, Louisiana from 1948 -1960. It was later broadcast on television as well.

The date was October 16, 1954, and the world was just beginning to hear the unique style by this 19 year old Tupelo, Mississippi native. Watch, and listen below, as KWKH radio announcer Frank Page introduces the man that will become the most famous entertainer in the world.

Elvis would have turned 83 years old today, and his music will always be timeless.
